Most examiners will tell you to dress comfortably, don’t wear a tie, sport coat, or dress. I know it probably seems pretty cliche, but a button-down shirt or a polo and a pair of khaki pants are your best choice. Shorts are okay, especially if it’s hot. Ensure they are long enough to reach at least halfway to your knee.

Your goal should be to look professional. Your checkride is not a fashion show. Your decision on what to wear should be focused on professionalism and safety, not what “would look cute” or get you a date. 

I shouldn’t have to say all this, but we see these questions on online forums all the time. We also see pictures of people who are more appropriately dressed for a night out at a club than for an important milestone in their professional career.

Keep it simple, clean, and professional. Think business casual. It should go without saying, but personal hygiene is a must.
