Should I have tried some initial flight lessons before committing to a full training program?
YES!
It always amazes me when I encounter students who have started training somewhere and have never even taken an introductory flight. Some have never even ridden on a commercial airliner.
Take a little time if you are thinking about this career to try a couple flights first. You may find you are prone to motion sickness (although that can usually be overcome with some practice). You might determine that you really are afraid of heights more than you realized the last time you were on the roof.
Don’t dive in and just go for it without doing a little homework first. Certainly don’t go all in with financial commitments until you have determined if you like it first.
A great first introductory lesson can even just be a ride in your nearby area sightseeing. It doesn’t have to be a full-on “you fly the plane the whole time” event.
